Sources of figures
The sun is calculated by sunrise and sunset; The moon is checked against three independent calendars at once.
New moon.
Then — sunset.
To begin the year, we find the local equalux, the next new moon, and the first sunset after it.
Each following new moon begins a new month at the first local sunset after it; therefore a month lasts 29 or 30 days.
Equalux and equinox are not the same. Equalux is the local day when the time from sunrise to sunset reaches 12 hours. Equinox is the astronomical moment when the Sun crosses the celestial equator. Because of the Sun's apparent size and atmospheric refraction, these dates may not coincide.
